The Adventures of April

We shall not cease from exploration - And the end of all our exploring - Will be to arrive where we started - And know the place for the first time. -- T.S. Eliot

The holidays have past and I've resettled back into my little life here in Atlanta. We had an inch of snow a few days ago and everybody freaked out!

Thanks to everybody who sent me birthday wishes today. It truly has been a great birthday and I feel very grateful to have such wonderful friends and family.

Many of you know that I have been swing dancing a bit lately. It's a tradition at my regular swing locale to do a birthday dance for those who celebrated the past week. Everybody stands in a circle, and the people whose birthday it is stand in the middle. As the music plays people cut in and out so by the end of the song you've danced with about a dozen people! I had a blast and my friend Bela was kind enough to take this video.

I still get a big smile on my face thinking about how fun that was! Maybe I can trick them in the month of April into thinking it's my birthday again....

For my birthday I baked scones for my office, went out to lunch with my coworkers, and got lovely flowers from my parents and my roommate, Melissa. I also had a classroom full of Salvadorian high school students sing happy birthday to me thanks to my cousin Andrea! I was cleaning up the living room this evening when all of a sudden I heard banging on the french doors. Outside John (co-worker), Marilyn (wife of John/friend) and Telia (I'm protecting your name, T) were standing on my porch waving sparklers with a cake! It was so touching and I'm so lucky to have friends like them! Thanks so much! I'm really touched!
